Voice-over-Cellular (VoC) extends the recently expanded Voice-over-LTE feature. What’s important is that it still manages 4G Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and, at the same time, adds management of the Radio Access Type (RAT) - 5G Voice over New Radio (VoNR).

Home & Roaming
This service extends configuration for VoLTE and VoNR in the Home Network and Roaming Networks. The feature is available to be configured per single device.
This feature significantly complements the Preferred Roaming Networks Steering - which configures preferred Mobile Network Codes (MNC) in each country, represented by Mobile Country Codes (MCC).
One possible use case may be to enable VoLTE while roaming once VoLTE and VoNR are eligible in the Home Network. There are many different use cases, and each Mobile Network Operator can configure them as it likes - although the service may or may not be eligible.
Why is VoC steering important?
More and more MNOs are shutting down 2G and 3G frequencies. Therefore, the devices need to be flagged and informed as to which MNOs are enabled with VoLTE and which Operators are still not eligible.
Offers are emerging for Voice over New Radio services for 5G, which subscribers enjoying a range of broader eSIM-powered services are demanding more and more.
